Arlington Heights Contemporary Shaker Kitchen Remodel

This 60's kitchen lacked form and function. The U-shaped kitchen space was divided into 2 areas; kitchen and breakfast making it difficult to function in that tight space. Without borrowing and additional square footage from the adjacent rooms we combined the 2 spaces into one large functional kitchen space. Completed by a large multi-functional island with seating for four, prep sink and plenty of hidden storage. Now this kitchen is the 'hot spot' of the family!

This kitchen began as an outdated 1960s kitchen that felt dark and crowded. The homeowners were looking for a space that would be good for gathering and entertaining. As people who like to cook, style and function were both very important.

This island is a good space for people to gather at and for food preparation. There is plenty of room for both. It is set up to allow for four people to dine on one end for there to be ample storage on the other. The pendant lights keep the area well lit.
