Renovating existing Kitchen and Breakfast Room WITHOUT adding any addition size to the home. New space now has a Kitchen island and a wall of Pantry cabinets that conceal a - mostly messy - desk area.

The 3 windows over the sink are exactly where the sliding doors were, and we added a new door. Removing the bulkheads, obviously, made a huge difference.

We added the two windows where the sink used to be which help to define the Breakfast area.

The doors (just above the kitchen stool) open up and slide back to reveal a desk. The drawers below the desk are to help organize all of the papers, pens, scissors etc. The lowest drawer neatly fits the briefcase.

We elongated the toe-kick and cantilevered the sides to make this island appear to float.

The counters along the range and refrigerator wall are 4" deeper than normal. This makes the "normal" refrigerator a counter depth refrigerator and gives more room for the coffee maker, knife block, etc.. Also adds some nice detail around the range.
