We did not move any exterior walls, to keep to the budget, but were able to add a large island. We also opened up the view into the Family Room, while controlling the natural circulation, especially around the range and sink. The refrigerator is on the "public" side of the island (at the very end). This makes for easy access for the cook and everyone else, while not forcing everyone to trip over each other.
