This project was a complete backyard transformation. The entire backyard was an empty, blank space before our installation. The clients dreamed of creating a tranquil backyard inspired by Australia, which their family could enjoy while addressing privacy and drainage concerns. Senior Designer and Project Manager Lynn Cavanaugh was up for the challenge.

Lynn embraced the wooded and natural feeling of the property lot line and incorporated additional Evergreens to create more privacy. Adding large-size Canadian Hemlocks and Nigra Arborvitae helped create a natural privacy fence along the edge of the property. To address the need for drainage, she designed a dry river bed that allows water to flow away from the house. The dry river bed also helped tie in the inspiration from Australia, which often includes large stones and gravel.

The hardscape portion of the design included a large patio created using Techo Bloc Blu Grande slabs. She created separate patio sections for outdoor dining, a fire feature and a hot tub. The clients love their outdoor space and enjoy summer nights eating s'mores as a family at the fire table.
