Many homeowners would have walked away from
this Newtown Square property with its chronic water
problems and terminally awkward layout. But the
owners had a vision that it could be transformed
into a light-filled, minimalist refuge from a hectic
world.
Working together closely, Re:Vision and the owners
simplified and reduced the building footprint while
turning a partial second story into a spacious, full-height space with vaulted ceilings. The ground floor was opened up, including strategically placed windows and doors to complement existing openings and connect with the expansive backyard. A continuous layer of insulation and weather barrier was carefully added over the multiple existing wall types (stone, block, and woodframe). The site around the house was regraded to prevent future water issues.
