After a new deck and staircase were built, an awkward little space opened up and there was only 1 sensible thing to put there - a bubbling boulder with a contrasting surrounding landscape.

This little space is actually elevated right above a retaining wall that borders the backyard patio. We love implementing the sound of moving water near a patio. This mossy limestone boulder was complemented by 2 others that transition the retaining wall into the water feature. We also installed a paver walkway connecting the new deck steps to the driveway.
