Cabin Re-Build

We turned a weekend getaway cabin into a full-time residence, installing footings where there were none, getting walls plumb and level. We retained the cabin feel the homeowners loved installing carsiding throughout the home on the walls and ceilings. A proper entrance was created under a roof cover supported by stone pillars. The new 16' sliding patio door provides a grand view.

This is the cabin before we got started. It had been built by the owner's father, so was not up to building code.
Cabin Exterior Before
The entry door to the right of the garage door was eliminated. The garage door was removed and replaced with a covered entry.
Cabin Entrance
This is the former entry to the building. The garage door was removed, along with the entry door and window. Entrance
New James Hardie siding wraps the house, all new doors and windows were installed. A 16' sliding patio door was installed and a new stamped concrete patio borders the exterior. The entrance is now under a roof cover with stone pillars.
New Exterior
The door on the right has taken the place of a large overhead garage door. A new closet sits behind the sliding doors. Carside paneling was applied to all interior walls to match the existing building.
Entry
The ceiling and skylights are the only thing original to the room. Carsiding was applied to all the walls, to match the existing in the rooms just beyond. The large, curved island is a great hub for the kitchen, able to seat 7 on the curved side. The island material is quarter-sawn oak while the...
Great Room
Looking from the kitchen towards the 16' sliding patio door, there is ample room to spread out and enjoy the view. The Titanium Granite countertop on the island has a leathered finish.
Great Room
The kitchen sink was placed at an angle for better views and communication. The undermount sink is surrounded by Midnight Majesty quartz countertop that has flecks of color that coordinate with the wall tile. Open shelving was used, rather than upper cabinets, for display.
Kitchen Counter
The guest bedroom/home office looks out to the great room. This room used to be part of the garage and was created along with a new bathroom.
Office/Guest Bedroom
Looking between the island and perimeter cabinets. The large island on the left provides plenty of work space to compliment the counter along the wall. Lots of drawers and doors for storage.
