Cedar Point

Set in a quite neighborhood on Martha's Vineyard, Cedar point grabs your attention by combining a familiar rural aesthetic with contemporary accents. From the street the two distinct gabled forms are separated by a contemporary red cedar wall and glass breezeway that reveals the lagoon beyond. This interior separation acts as an entry marker where the visitor decides to move into the forms or through to the deck and views.
The interior design, like the exterior, tells a story of old meets new. In the great room, the reclaimed rafters, posts, and flooring allude to an aged structure that has been refreshed by the addition of modern cabinetry, stair railings, electrical fixtures, and furniture.

The juxtaposition of elements provides new interpretations on traditional applications. For example, the stainless steel connections at the frame joints express a functional responsibility while providing a contemporary spin. This is also present in the Master bath through the mixing of reclaimed barn board and concrete at the vanity.

The low maintenance landscapes define circulation zones around the house while quietly framing the forms and elements. The rehabilitated boathouse at the water’s edge provides storage for equipment and a get away for quite thought.
