Chesapeake Bay Project
Matthew and Karine designed & created this handrail in forged steel with forged bronze hand grip and accents. Due to the home's location directly on the Chesapeake Bay, it was suggested that the three story design echo a nautical theme without being too loud about it. Subtle lines were incorporated to convey the idea of swagged ropes or the draping fabric of a stowed sail. Large 3" diameter newel posts were forged to a taper and designed to be reminiscent of mooring bollards with large diameter base plates and multiple square head screws holding them securely in place.
In 2019 a hall table was created by Matt & Karine for the same home. Again the idea of draping fabric was incorporated but with a somewhat different approach so that the two pieces are seen to be in the same family but each able to stand on it's own merits.
