This job has to have been one of the most fun jobs I've done to date! This client was a barrel of fun, and definitely not afraid of color! The problem is she was using her color in all the wrong places! She had bright yellow walls throughout most of the house and then a dark burgundy in the dining room on the walls and ceiling. After some convincing, I talked her into toning down the yellow walls by choosing an ivory paint with a yellow undertone. Her color was still there - just more subtle. By doing this, I explained to her that it would actually make all the colors in her furniture and accessories come alive - and boy did they! In the dining room, it was kind of the opposite problem. It was dark and dreary - burgundy walls with light beige and sage upholstery. You're allowed to be more dramatic in the dining room - and I explained that we needed a color that would wake up the walls, and give us a great backdrop for some serious color! I chose Sherwin Williams "Haven", and even though it was kind of a shocking change at first, I'm so glad she trusted me, because now, all the new fabrics and accessories look stunning in there!! The living room got brand new furniture, rug and accessories, and we found the perfect combination of color and neutrals to make everything really stand out, but still feel warm and inviting!
