Lightened Up Lake House

This job was a true transformation! This is an older lake home that was just feeling too dark, and really needed some updating! It took some convincing, but once I convinced the clients to paint their rock fireplace, you can see what a wonderful difference it made to their once dark and dreary living area! Some new furniture pieces, window treatments, and accessories help complete the transformation!

As you can see, this client's living room before was terribly dark and drab! My first suggestion was to paint the rock fireplace a nice ivory color to instantly lighten the room. Luckily, she took my advice, and you can see the transformation in the after photos!

This master bedroom was being weighted down by the dark, outdated furniture. We decided to have a custom upholstered headboard made, and lost the foot board to make this master feel larger and lighter as you'll see in the after photos.

On this wall, we had another outdated wooden dresser, with a mis-matched wood framed mirror. We replaced it with a new painted buffet, modern lamps and a new lighter linen-framed mirror to complete the master bedroom transformation as you'll see in the after photos.

Here is the AFTER of the new "dresser" wall! We actually found this beautiful buffet/sideboard, and loved the worn grey painted finish and the metal fretwork on the doors. This is a close-up of some of the fabrics we used in the new living room! Since we painted the rock fireplace ivory, and went a shade lighter on the walls, the rich colors in these fabrics were the perfect contrast to all the new lighter elements in the room!

This is picture of the one new chair we purchased to fill the void in this corner of the living room. The fabric is a gold, ivory, and black pattern that ties in perfectly with the other patterns used in the new room!

This is a close-up of the custom 48" cocktail ottoman I had my upholsterer build from scratch! We chose this awesome geometric fabric from Carole fabrics to complete this multi-purpose ottoman!

This is a close-up of the rug we used. Again, putting a black-background rug on the neutral carpet gives great contrast, and also helps incorporate the other colors we used in the room.
