Pattern Play

This couple hired me to help tie their open concept rooms together and make it feel more complete! They had purchased the new black plaid chair and neutral sofa with red pillows, but beyond that, it was pretty much a blank slate! By adding some beautiful, patterned drapes in colors that coordinated with the new furniture, and adding an architectural patterned rug, along with some new accessories, we added some much needed color and warmth to this open concept home!

This is a dining area that opens to the kitchen and living room, so we wanted to incorporate a pattern with the colors from the living room. I found this great transitional suzani pattern with reds and blacks that adds an element of whimsy and warmth to this small dining area!

You can see how much this pattern brings to this small dining area when you step back. We also used some of the customer's red plates on the baker's rack to add some pops of the red against the wall.

This is a close-up of the drapery fabric. We used goblet pleats to add just a touch of formality, since this is the home's only dining area. We used architectural finials on the drapery rod to go with the style of the living room and incorporate some common elements.

This is a tailored valance we did to coordinate with the dining room draperies. By using some of the same fabric in the kitchen, we are tying the open rooms together.
