Retirement Retreat

This couple recently retired and down-sized to a smaller home. Now only having one living room, they needed it to be sophisticated enough to entertain, but comfortable enough to relax in after a hard day on the golf course! I think we achieved both, and the clients were extremely happy!

This is the sectional that replaced their outdated sofa and love seat. I helped them select a neutral tweed-like fabric that has a touch of blue-green in it. Custom pillows and a custom built upholstered ottoman really pop against the neutral sofa.

The room was rug-less before, and you can see the dark chocolate rug warms up the space, as well as provides some contrast with the brighter colors we used for accents.

This row of windows provides a beautiful view to the outdoors, so the customers did not want full coverage window treatments. A soft valance provides some contrast and warmth, without obstructing the view.

This is a close-up of the soft valance and fabric used. It is a tone-on-tone pattern. This was a good choice in this room, because this fabric will not compete with the other bolder patterns on the ottoman and pillows.

This shows the other smaller windows in the room. I chose non-functioning pleated panels for these windows in the same fabric as the valance to provide some much needed balance on this side of the room, and some contrast on the light wall.

This is a close-up of the pillows. The two bright floral pillows came with the sofa. I pulled out the deep turquoise and the warm tones to provide some contrast and balance to this bright big pattern
