Cliff May house

A gem of a modern house had fallen on hard times, but new owners worked to bring it back

This original Cliff May house in east Dallas had a courtyard full of dead plants and broken concrete. Some minimal landscaping and cleanup has given it a serene atmosphere.

The concrete was rearranged and saw cut to get it away from the live oak and make a useful patio space

Luckily the homeowner is handy and built his own furniture... the fire pit is a steel propane tank head sitting on a spare tire rim

Tables are sections of the leaning pine that had to come down in the front yard. The aim was to haul away as little as possible!

Sitting area

This fine black decomposed granite is soft enough for the babies to walk on, yet with the correct base material underneath firm enough for grandparents' wheelchairs (photo taken the day after the 1st birthday party!)

Easy family space

The fire pit is a propane tank head sitting on an old tire rim. Fence was jogged around the tree with neighbor's permission--nobody wanted to lose it!
