I designed a new back porch, stairs and pool deck. The pool shell was still good after 50 years, but needed fresh plaster and tile. I added floating ipe steps to relieve the amount of concrete.

More oaks die in Dallas from too much water rather than too little. So the front walk bridges a drainageway for a giant red oak.

The house acts as a dam across the slope, making drainage critical. The large river rock conceals pipes buried below to carry runoff away

Zen drainage solution

While I was waiting for the concrete to set, I took the broken Tennessee flagstone from the old pool deck and made this dry stream to handle the runoff in this gully
