Ipe deck Bay Village

A large ipe deck links the house to its beautiful creekside lot. The hot tub gets a lot of use! and the deck is big and sturdy enough for the whole high school football team.

These homeowners have three kids and a busy life, so they needed a big deck to party. And they love their hot tub! 16 x 48 feet of ipe give them room to spread out. Notches were left for the maple tree and hot tub.

Steps at either end provide access to the lawn. Originally shrubs were planned to go along the edge, but they like the feeling of openness as it is.

The nice thing about this Bay Village neighborhood: nobody fences the back yards. So everyone has access to the stream, where kids fish for steelhead trout that run up from Lake Erie.

The fence hides the hot tub from the neighbors, but still allows access to the equipment. The staggered design keeps it from feeling overwhelming and doesn't block the breeze.
