This whole house remodel embraces sustainable design and construction from the roof system and envelope all the way down to the finish details. Emphasis was placed on recycling materials from the original structure, responsible waste management during the rebuild along with energy/water conservation, preserving good indoor air quality while ensuring that comfort and aesthetics were not compromised. Features include: whole house ventilation, low-voc finishes, no added urea formaldehyde materials, FSC certified woods, resource efficient structural timbers and millwork, Energy Star rated appliances, low flow plumbing fixtures, energy efficient lighting and more. This project was the recipient of the 2009 Excellence in Design Award from ED+C magazine, the 2010 Seattle Homes & Lifestyles magazine’s Favorite Spaces Contest (Kitchen) and was on the Bainbridge Island Eco Home Tour 2009.
