Great design is about the details but more importantly, it is about the people for whom the design is being created. The homeowners, who are both working professionals with highly demanding careers, were looking for a sanctuary space that would kick start their quest for defining their new home as a reflection of their lifestyle as a couple.

The top priorities: 1) replace the claustrophobic steam shower with a dual bathing shower, 2) add multiple storage options to keep linens, toiletries close at hand for maximum grooming efficiency and clutter free countertops, 3) utilize high durability, low maintenance materials which would minimize cleaning and maintenance requirements and 4) incorporate invisible features to facilitate aging-in-place.

The net result is a spacious light filled zero-threshold shower complete with his & hers shampoo niches, built-in bench and dual shower heads & thermostatic shower valves. Frameless cabinetry was used for maximum storage space and quartz countertops/wall caps/shower bench and porcelain tile floors with electric resistant heat fulfill the desire for low maintenance and beautiful, slip resistant surfaces.

The overall design and execution not only met but exceeded the homeowners project desires. Blocking for future grab bars and an electrical outlet by the toilet for a washlet were installed to ensure living-in-place functionality. Usable storage was increased nearly four-fold, providing a tidier look and a more efficient hygiene routine. The homeowners love their new bathroom and appreciate the time and care AKTW put forth to make their vision come true.
