County Line Barn
2012 Merit Award: AIA Cincinnati Design Awards
2010 Honor Award: Cincinnati CORAwards
What started as a shelter for firewood became a site structure with the responsibility of absorbing all the clutter that accumulates around people and their hobbies. The program soon expanded to provide shelter for a tractor, a wood shop, a gardening shed, a storage loft, and a screened porch.
The design makes reference to the regional tobacco barn typology. Vernacular materials and construction methods are employed throughout. The initial modular proportion for the structure derives from the dimensions of a cord of firewood.
