Our client came to us after he purchased this 1957, 2,700 sq. ft. house in Casa Linda. Although the house had been completely renovated with a contemporary feel, the kitchen felt cold and sterile. Our client loved the clean lines but wanted to add warmth to what would become his favorite room in the house. To achieve this, we installed new quartz countertops, stained the light wood cabinets to cultivate a warmer feel, installed new tile on the backsplash, added floating shelves, and upgraded the plumbing fixtures. The stainless-steel apron front sink consistently collected crumbs around it and looked dirty; we modified the sink base cabinets so that an undermount sink could be installed for a cleaner look. Next, we added the floating shelves giving my client extra storage for everyday items and providing a space for him to show off his personality with displays of artwork and plants. We wanted the backsplash to be the focal point of this kitchen, so we removed the distracting pendant lights and replaced them with a lower profiled light fixture.
