This kitchen is on the rear of a 1929 house with the breakfast area, dining and living rooms stacked to the right. The owners wanted a more open, central kitchen for family activities and entertaining and needed a better connection to the back deck, where they often entertain. They also wanted more countertop space and more storage. We came up with the idea of keeping the kitchen in its current location, but expanding it by incorporating the adjacent pantry. We also suggested enclosing a recessed open porch on the back of the house to create a small mudroom that is open to the breakfast nook. 2014 CotY Grand Award winner for Residential Kitchen over $120,000
