French Open

A partial renovation involved eliminating wall cabinets and replacing them with custom floating shelves to display an impressive collection of cookware. Other goals were to create a space barware and a collection of fine spirits. The base cabinets and granite counters were retained to minimize cost and disruption.

A colorful kitchen with all of the permanent items (cabinets, counters, floor and tile) in neutral colors, allowing for much flexibility, it is so fun!!

The backsplash was selected to act as a neutral canvas behind the blue cookware and dishes. Sand and sea blend beautifully with the existing natural granite counters.

The stainless steel hood has been oversized increasing the "capture area" to improve ventilation function and additionally the air quality in the house. (The range is 30" wide, the hood is 36" wide.)

Dutch ovens, bakeware and cookware are used daily. They are beautifully displayed for quick access. "Mise en place" or everything in its place is a French term that chefs learn early on.

The new (ducted) chimney style hood replaced an over the range microwave, which was just re-circulating. The new microwave has all the bells and whistles the client needs, including a carousel for even cooking, it's smaller, and is located out of the way near the refrigerator.

Mom has two small children and loves to cook for her family. Each day she preps using fresh ingredients and "mise en place" is her motto, a culinary term meaning "everything in its place" so having her dishes and cookware close at hand and displayed beautifully was paramount.

The over the range microwave (recirculating fan) was replaced with a striking stainless steel chimney style hood that ducts out directly. Ventilation and air quality has been dramatically improved!

The new microwave is mounted above the counter, tucked near the refrigerator, close at hand but out of the main line of site.
