This lovely traditional coach house, due to its historical location, was preserved on the outside but entirely renovated on the inside. Our aim was to turn this unfinished space into an artist’s loft, which is why the abundance of natural light was so important. To further the light, airy, and artistic feel of the space, we purposely finished the walls and exposed ceiling in a bright white as well as incorporating minimalist furnishings, allowing for the artist to put total attention on artistic creation.

An interesting feature of this home is its electric incinerator toilet. There are no plumbing systems near this coach house, so we needed to find an innovative solution. We designed a waterless, yet functional, bathroom that accommodates for the long hours the client plans to spend in the space.

Also noteworthy, the two large barn doors and set of French doors allow the entire lower level to be opened up to passively cool the unit in warmer months while the upper level takes advantage of natural day lighting with solar tubes.
