Huntington Project

This remodel for a small 2 bdrm 1 bath condominium was a foreclosure investment. The condition of the unit was VERY unattractive to buyers along with the problem of decaying plumbing, cabinets & carpeting. The home suffered from pet oders, lack of maintainence and an extreme case of plain white. The unit had absolute no color and was ugly by every standard of design. Karlyn immediately sought to bring life within by warming up the color theme along with new a function & flow of hardware, faucets, lighting & appliances. With the welcomed design input from the owner, the result was a real "Stinker" turned into a real "Contemporary Charmer".

This shows the original sink and remodeled cabinets from the 1980's which were very cheap pressboard material including all doors.The sink was a rusted mess and under the sink was just plain unbelievably gross.

The completed kitchen counter from the back side. A stainless 10" deep single tub sink with a high neck faucet makes for a roomy prep area. Note the dishwasher installed to the right of the sink. Counters are Silestone in a very suttle designed cream color.

New kitchen gutted to the bone. New electrical to update safety standards, new plumbing for full functional use, new can lighting with separate switches & dimmers, new shaker style cabinets in expresso stain with long handle knobs and stainless steel appliances.

This photo gives you a good image of the Silestone counter top. The color is cream with real simple & clean fecks of color to contrast. The backsplash is all the accent needed for the small area.

This picture shows you the quality of the cabinetry. It was done in all solid wood with no melamine shelving....real wood! The doors were installed with self-closing hinges at a price that beats anyone San Diego County!

This photo was shot from the breakfast bar area towards the front door. Note the wood casing on the new vinyl windows instead of flat vinyl trim. the front door was totally reworked so that the door closes with ease but is also weather tight and very secure. Details are important!

Living room was painted in a very pretty & soft yellow color. The windows were replaced with new vinyl ones but we installed casing around them instead of cheaper vinyl trim. Came out very nice!

The only one thing that was somewhat encouraging about this purchase was the bathroom. It had a new sink & vanity cabinet with a new top. Other than that....the whole thing had to come out!

As in the other photo you can see the worn & tired look of the fiberglass one piece tub enclosure. This all had to come out because of the stains and cracks that existed. Check that vinyl floor! Pretty ugly!

Here's an angle from the tub towards the door. Besides being tired looking & dirty it suffered from the same "All white" ugly decor......Did I call this ...Decor?.....Anyway it had to be gutted and ripped out as well.

With the frame-less clear glass shower doors and the rain shower head above, we were able to achieve a contemporary feel to go along with the 3"x6" tile set in a subway pattern.
