Lower Level Bar
The lower level bar is a highly used area in this classic traditional home. The plain inset cabinetry has a shaker door in quarter sawn oak with a medium finish. In addition, the simple crown, island pilasters, and the arched wainscot valance lend to this traditional style. The pieces are simple yet traditional in design.
From the guests point of view the bar appears as a warm inviting place to gather for drinks and conversation. The raised seating countertop conceals the work area behind which houses a dishwasher, sink, refrigerator, double pullout waste, and ice maker. A microwave and warming drawer are located in the back bar. The planned layout of these items makes the serving of a guests needs comfortable and enjoyable for the host.
The lighting style also played a major role in highlighting the cabinetry details. Not only are the tall display cabinets lit with vertical lighting behind the face frame of the cabinet to evenly light the interior, but the island back is illuminated below the countertop with concealed fixtures. In addition, the wainscot valance above the back bar serves as a soffit in which down lights cast a soft glow on the surface below
