Traditional Elegance

The client’s new home was to have a traditional elegant Italian feel. In keeping with this concept the kitchen was designed with a traditional raised panel in a deep cherry stain with decorative details such as corbels, arched glass doors, and pilasters. The kitchen opens into the family room and breakfast nook overlooking the lake so it would be a place of entertainment as well as the family’s daily hub. To maintain the elegant feel certain elements were incorporated into the kitchen including a limestone hood, glass door soffit cabinets with custom leaded glass inserts, arched wainscot panel over the sink, and a farm house sink.

In addition, the island was designed to reflect a large piece of furniture using decorative pilasters on the corners and furniture base wrapping the perimeter. To continue the furniture theme the refrigeration units are fully concealed as a hutch piece with an arched top glass cabinet above and pilasters flanking each side.
The butler’s pantry and bar in this home flowed from the kitchen and family room. The space needed to be identified as its own unit, but also coordinate with the kitchen. To maintain the look and feel of the overall space the cabinetry matched that in the kitchen in a traditional raised panel in a deep cherry stain. Some of the same details from the kitchen were also incorporated. The design of the space allows access to the dining room, but also functions as a walk up bar in the family room that overlooks the lake and pool. A walkway between the kitchen and butler’s pantry helps to define it as a separate space. In addition, the space is clearly defined as a butler’s pantry with the countertop glass door cabinets that allow for china display and the easy access to the dining room. The under counter refrigerator and ice maker are concealed behind the walk up bar.
