After purchasing the “tear down” next door, our clients were determined to build their dream home, specifically striving to accommodate a growing collection of mid-century modern furnishings somehow juxtaposed with their traditional family heirlooms. The result is a clean, modern space that serves as the perfect backdrop for their eclectic mix of treasures.
Working closely with the client and the architects, we chose warm, neutral finishes in the public spaces, while brighter, deeper hues were introduced in the private bedrooms and bathrooms. A variety of glass tiles were used throughout to reflect the client’s appreciation of the medium. Durable finishes such as quartz surfaces and porcelain tiles were “must have” elements, as were “green” products like dual flush toilets. In keeping with the modern aesthetic, we applied the finishes in a clean, simple manner: Blocks of color dropped into fields of neutrals, with emphasis on texture over color or pattern.
