This entire house remodel took first place in its category in the 2012 Bay Area Remodeling Awards. A close collaboration between architect and the client, transformed this 50s ranch style home into a midcentury modern LEED Platinum Certified home. The client wanted to create a comfortable family home emphasizing improving the ecological footprint of the property with a special focus on sustainability, energy efficiency, and water conservation. This home integrates the California style of seamless indoor/outdoor living and features solar thermal, photovoltaic panels and grey water systems.

Custom windows, doors and skylights allowed natural light to flood into the both the interior spaces. The new floor plan offers flexibility to open up the house for entertaining, while offering privacy for personal living spaces.

Superior craftsmanship and design details, seen in the living wall, the Javanese rock sink and the FSC Certified paneling cabinetry all add unique interest. Thoughtful selection of green materials evident in the Caesarstone sinks and counter top, recycled glass tile, post-consumer recycled Flor Tile and the LED lighting are featured throughout this family home.
