This midcentury modern ranch house with its well-worn 70’s attitude was not up to the gorgeous setting of the property in Orinda with a beautiful backyard and a pool that backs up to a park. We worked with Architect Rebecca Amato and the new owners, a family of 5, to reimagine the use of space throughout the entire house. Walls were removed in what was a separate kitchen/family room and living room to create a huge great room with an extended kitchen area with a comfortable family area and a spacious setting for the dining area. Off the great room, the old laundry room and a hodge podge of small rooms were reconfigured to create a new living room with a sliding barn door, a new master suite with a wall of windows facing the backyard and bedrooms for the children.
