The primary objective for this kitchen renovation was to make sure that the new kitchen was sensitive to the original aesthetics & celebrated this
post-and-beam beauty built by the very talented & renowned local architect Fred Hollingsworth. Opening up walls that once encapsulated the original galley kitchen offered plenty of much needed space & storage as well as natural light that now floods in from windows that offer glorious views of the generous garden. Dark ebony shaker cabinets anchor the space & add drama against all the warm cedar wood introduced in the ceiling detail & the support beams. My clients loved the original large brick wall that was a feature for both the dining & living rooms & it was a bench mark for an accent color that was incorporated into multicolored mosaic tile back splash. Light colored granite help to keep the kitchen from being too dark visually. Although this kitchen looks as though it has been lost in time, it boasts all the modern conveniences & is a tribute to the local architect that made this distinctive style a monumental & timeless classic to enjoy for many years to come.
