Mosaic Table

The Mosaic Table is a commission for e11even restaurant at 15 York Street in downtown Toronto. The fourteen foot communal table is composed of antique hemlock that was buried below York Street for over a century as a part of the historic Conner’s Wharf. While below ground, the hemlock timbers absorbed the vivid green and red mineral tones in the lakefront soil. The surface is assembled from nearly 300 off-cuts that were individually cut and joined. The legs and supporting structure are made of hot-rolled, partially oxidized steel.
