Newport Kitchen Remodel

This kitchen remodel was such an amazing transformation process! We can hardly recognize the space now that it's finished, and it's so exciting that every single detail worked out the way we'd hoped. This original space was impossibly small and dark. With limited storage, poor quality materials, and very low ceilings, a major change was needed. Our client, recognizing that only so much can be done with the existing structure of the house, requested to somehow heighten the space, expand functional storage, and create more opportunity for cooking and social time. As a full time stay-at-home mom, this client's needs ranged from expansive prep and appliance space, to an area for her children and guests to sit and socialize. Our solution was to remove the wall between the formal dining wall and kitchen, and expand the kitchen into the adjacent room. This created a kitchen twice the size. By creating a back "cooking wall", we have developed two zones to the kitchen. The primary zone houses the main sink, dishwasher, refrigerator, and plenty of prep space. The secondary zone features a massive island with two ovens and a prep sink. The back wall provides a massive amount of additional storage for pantry goods--especially important given our removal of the existing walled-off pantry. We also lifted the ceiling up in the primary zone to create a tray ceiling with additional lighting. Though subtle, this lift offers additional visual height which really help to expand the space. We've utilized two-toned gray and white cabinets, quartz countertops, a very unique circular range hood, and fun blown glass lighting to tie everything together. The backsplash features leaf-like marble mosaic which contrasts the dark gray porcelain lantern mosaic adorning the island. This fresh, bright space is a lively and spacious kitchen that our client can use and love for years to come!
