Ottawa Fireplace Redesign
LOVE this project!!
Our clients hired us to redesign their fireplace wall! The current built in's were poorly made and the brick wall was quite dated. Time for a complete overhaul!
We tackled this project not only from a beautiful new contemporary design plan, but also from a resale standpoint. There are two floor plans that we shot, which one do you prefer?
Our challenges with this room are; floorplanning, one wall has french doors leading to the outdoor space, the back wall has the fireplace and built in's, the third wall has the large opening to the living room and there is no fourth wall.
Although, I am not a big fan of putting a sofa in front of a fireplace, as it tends to block the view somewhat, and it causes a physical blocker, this floor plan A was best suited for my clients use of this space.
It is challenging to determine in the photos, but there is actually an easy flow as there is plenty of access on either side of the sofa, and around the coffee table and arm chairs. Lots of room to open the drawers in the custom cabinetry, so this floor plan worked well.
We did end up extending some of the design to a few other areas of the house such as;
- New Kitchen Valances and bench seat cushion and toss pillows
- Newly stained hardwood floors throughout the main level
- New choice of colours for the entire main floor
- New furniture and textiles for the Family Room (with fireplace) and the Front Living Room.
- New pot lights for the Family Room and Kitchen
- Brand New Staircase Railing - as well we stained the treads to match the flooring and painted the risers to match the wall colour
- New crown moulding in the Family Room
- Beautiful custom Hunter Douglas Luminettes in the Family Room.
