A river runs through it. In order to accommodate their need for wheelchair access and increased space, this North Shore family embarked on a custom design with an architect, and engaged Kingdom Builders to provide a custom build. We constructed an elevator and bridge to provide better access, and built an additional wing to provide both privacy and space for the second generation. In addition, we built a great room in the centre of the house with 20-foot ceilings, a large fireplace and windows with expansive views of the creek to serve as the gathering space for all inhabitants. The highlight of their lot, the creek, introduced strict building regulations due to salmon protection needs and the chance of flooding. We worked closely with the DFO, arborists, hydraulic specialists and the Municipal Environmental Department throughout, and exceeded all requirements.
