This was a complete down-to-the-studs renovation of a 1970's contemporary.
The existing house was dark inside and out, and awkwardly laid out.

There was one massive existing brick fireplace. We kept it as the focal
point of the large living room. But directly across the main space of the
house we made a more intimate family room as part of the new kitchen. This
room wanted a fireplace too, something hip and dramatic in its own way,
without overwhelming the space.

The Spark fireplace was a natural fit. The owners use it constantly,
especially when entertaining. The image of Miles Davis on the TV above the
fireplace reflects the jazz music that is often playing in the house and
the cool modern feel that the fireplace contributes to.
