(Project Archive) NOPA Traditional Kitchen Remodel

This lovely 1890 Victorian was originally built as a single family home with social living areas on the ground floor and private bedrooms on the second floor. During another San Francisco housing crunch, around 1960, the house was converted into a 2-unit building. The result was a top floor flat with an awkward floor plan, including a large kitchen that functioned poorly .

The clients love to cook and entertain and needed a kitchen with extra storage space that would serve as the hub for their parties. The original kitchen had limited storage, bad lighting, awkward layout and no eating area. While the footprint was large, it was poorly organized.

The resulting remodel provide a kitchen with a traditional style, fully upgraded electrical and plumbing, and a reworked kitchen floorplan. This floorplan maximized overall square footage and gave the kitchen a ton of storage in addition to a dining bar.
