(Project Archive) Outer Richmond District Kitchen and Dining Remodel

A growing family with a new baby purchased a unique, and largely original split-level house. Where the home was very well cared for, it was in need of a few modern touches, including a larger and more functional kitchen. The clients wanted to preserve the 30s era charm, while making the kitchen more functional and integrating dining room with the rest of the living space.

The load bearing wall between the kitchen and dining room was removed to integrate the kitchen into the dining room. A structural post and beam system was installed and styled to match the archways between the living room and dining room, for continuity throughout the home. The hardwood flooring in the kitchen was custom made to replicate the wide plank and dowel flooring throughout the first floor.

The kitchen was completed with fully custom cabinets that created great storage in a tight space. Pendant lighting from Rejuvenation was chosen to compliment the original pendant lighting that was in mint condition through the rest of the house.

The result was a beautiful, bright and airy kitchen with space for an eat-in breakfast area that opened up to the dining with a view of the whole first floor. Perfect for watching the little one while preparing dinner.
