Spring Island Shrimp Pond Residence

The Wade’s residence celebrates the beauty of Spring Island from a perch overlooking an impounded saltwater pond. The house radiates from a central chimney with fireplaces in the living room, dining room, screened porch and outside deck. The floorboards and the structure fan out from the circular hearth. The dining room features a custom curved trestle dining table the Fredericks designed and a local cabinetmaker built. The kitchen open to both the dining and living rooms connects the home’s public living spaces and reinforces the radiating floor plan. An Italian craftsman created the original mosaic of palmetto trees and alligators for the kitchen wall.

Lowcountry building materials of stucco, old Carolina brick, wood siding and standing seam metal roof welcome you to a traditional home that transforms to an open, glass walled living room overlooking the saltwater pond. The outdoor spaces are designed to be enjoyed year round, The screened porch with the fireplace is for cool nights; in contrast the freestanding screened porch is designed to capture the summer breezes.
