Third Floor Renovation - Wakefield, MA

This was a renovation done in Wakefield MA. Our goal was to redesign the existing 1/2 story and create a comfortable, new third story and revitalize the condition of this home.

We were able to include a third floor balcony in our design, although it only appears to be on the second story due to the site's topography. The purpose was to have an outside space that was more private than the lower deck. Photo credit to Marshall Dackert.

One of the things we liked about adding a third floor balcony is that it adds a small moment of refuge on the ground level in the back due to the narrow space created by the slope of the topography. Photo Credit to Marshall Dackert.

While the house remained traditional on the exterior, we wanted to give the interior a more contemporary feel. Using contemporary pieces like this vanity and mirror, or the tile work, etc., we were able to create moments of modernity in this traditional home. Photo Credit to Marshall Dackert.

We put a lot of thought into the window layout. We wanted to let a good amount of natural light in so we added a skylight, but we also wanted to frame a view of the woods behind the house so we simply added larger windows. Photo credit to Marshall Dackert
