Traditional Theater Keeps It Classic And Classy
You might need to don your best evening wear before stepping into this classy theater! Lush velvet drapes with gold tassels and gold cord fabricated by Custom Touch Interiors adorn the walls and serve to dress up the acoustic wall panels. Electric candle sconces with wrought iron and classic moldings are also perfect complements to the sophistication of this theater.
While there is plenty of classic elegance, the space also boasts some clever and impressive modern features. The homeowner wanted a true movie watching experience, so the Gramophone team came up with ways to fit as large a screen as possible into the theater.
Gramophone brought in a contractor to work with the team in building an alcove for a trio of B&W CT7.3 speakers. The contractor (who now works for Gramophone) insulated the alcove with acoustic foam for superior sound performance. When the homeowner is listening to music, there are actually highlights above the speakers behind the perforated 115” Premier screen. This feature really allows the music to preside over the room, and creates visual interest.
The task of isolating sound from the theater was made easier by the fact that the space was being newly constructed. To isolate sound from the theater, back boxes were used for the speakers and special drywall was chosen.
Gramophone created a special entry and lobby space to showcase the owner’s equipment rack that makes the magic happen. The rack includes the Oppo BDP103 Blu-Ray player, Integra’s DHC-80.3 preamplifier, a McIntosh 7-channel MC8207 amplifier, and a B&W SA1000 subwoofer amplifier.
By seamlessly integrating elements of technology into a very traditional theater design, the homeowner gets to enjoy movies and music in both elegance and comfort.
