River's Edge Woodworks

Gary and the team at River's Edge Woodworks do absolutely beautiful work; they are true artisans. I chose a cabinet rail design that required real precision and the results are just spectacular. The team is a pleasure to work with; they were willing to mock up a few different ideas to help me choose the cabinet style I wanted. I've really enjoyed working with them and I am so happy with the way my kitchen turned out.

Gary Odendahl and River's Edge Woodworks did work in my home library. The work consisted of building two floor to ceiling bookshelves, installing wainscoting around three walls of the room, and custom moldings around the doors and windows. The existing crown molding was also replaced with new crown molding. All work was done in cherry wood and stained to match the existing woodwork in the room. We were very pleased with the quality of the work Gary did. The design was detailed and the final product matched the design. The final product is beautiful and significantly enhanced the appearance and functionality of the room. Once begun, the work was completed quickly and efficiently. Gary and his crew cleaned up and vacuumed at the end of each day and made sure that there was no damage to the floor, ceiling, walls or existing woodwork in the room. The room is an unusual shape because of a floor-to-ceiling bump out bay, which required many additional cuts to the crown molding and other features with a miter saw. They took the appropriate time and effort to get the detail right. Great job and well worth the price!

I would hire Gary again and again. He's reliable, honest, hardworking, creative and clearly a talented professional in his field. We hired Gary to turn our very unfinished basement into a laundry room, office and storage room. Our basement was small and dark, and what Gary created is bright and inviting. He consulted with us on different floor plan options and helped us to get the most out of our space. As we added projects to the list, he catered to our every need, installing multiple windows, a new staircase, closets, shelving units, and the list goes on. My daughter was 2 at the time Gary was working at our house and she grew quite fond of him, asking for him after the project was complete. His demeanor is kind and warm. I can't say enough great things about Gary. Don't hesitate to hire him.

Gary Odendahl of River's Edge repaired an antique secretary desk that was damaged when I moved in 2010. That piece of furniture is strong again, just the way it was when I bought it over thirty years ago. That was not the only job he has done for me: replacing broken ropes in double-hung windows; replicating rotted elements of our 110-year-old Arts-and-Crafts house; making doors close correctly once again. The list goes on and on. I phone or text him, he gets back to me, he comes when he says he will, he does what we agree on, etc. I hire Gary over and over, and I recommend him and his work unreservedly. He does professional work in a professional way.

Gary was required to design and build a replacement for an existing cabinet unit which had shelves behind doors. It required creating a grille system at the rear of the top to permit heat to circulate from the baseboard unit, and to integrate with a 20-foot granite top. He also had to match the cabinet doors to another unit in the room, opposite the new cabinets, and matched them perfectly. The work also required the removal of 2 bookshelf units atop the old cabinets and their reinstallation afterwards. Everything was done in a timely manner and beautifully executed. He is a craftsman of the highest caliber, and very personable as well. I recommend him highly, without reservation, to anyone.

River's Edge does amazing work. They bring to life majestic pieces of furniture - the drawings and sketches are just a start. As we continue renovations and updates in other places in our old home, we've found ourselves looking for other places we could have them do their magic. The craftsmen are great to work with, and they pay attention to every detail in an unobtrusive way. I wish my experience with all contractors could be like this - a real pleasure.

River's Edge Woodworks did superb work for our clients, and for us as architects. Gary executed our designs for the dining room cabinet and for the library with its challenging 'secret passage' hinged shelf/door. He exercised sound taste in selecting and orienting the individual stock pieces of our beloved quarter-sawn white oak material, with it's rich characteristic grain. His craftsmanship was exceptionally clean. He accomplished all of this in an old house, where floors and ceilings slope slightly and walls are not quite plumb. Gary works every bit as carefully as we do, and we enthusiastically recommend River's Edge to our clients and contractors.

Gary is great! He is very down to earth. I hired him to install crown molding, fix someone else's stair trim mess and a drawer system (13 drawers). He did a beautiful job, very reasonable, trustworthy and i would hire him again and highly recommend him.
