Gabled additions add space and interest to what originally was a 1960's Ranch (one of our designers grew up in the mirror-image version of the original home!) Grass and brick do a beautiful job of visually breaking up the expanses of concrete.

Originally the roofline above this entrance was beneath one side of a vaulted ceiling. Adding the gable creates a nice sense of place when coming into the home, as does the trimmed opening that divides the foyer from the rest of the house.

The dark wooden console table in the foyer is a convenient landing spot for house keys and mail. The trimmed opening signals the transition from the living room to the dining room in this open plan.

Originally the fireplace was on the left wall, which faces the street. Moving it to the shorter wall creates a nice symmetry and allows for an unobstructed view of the yard and charming neighborhood.

This open and gracious living room has a nice connection with the adjacent dining room. The stacked stone fireplace is accentuated by a wooden mantle and a central wooden beam in the vaulted ceiling. Can lights offer ambient light, while a task light showcases the art over the mantle.

French doors with divided side lites take the place of the former sliding glass door, creating an elegant and open connection to the backyard. The original wall between the dining room and kitchen has been removed.
