We took down the heavy, dark red valance, installed custom drapery panels up high and took the mullions out of those beautiful french doors. NOW the light comes in and we see the garden beyond. The white, beige and gold color palette makes this room soft and easy.

We changed the layout just a bit, but what a difference it made! Now the room seems larger and more welcoming. The ottoman has been reupholstered in a pretty coordinating fabric. Accent pillows were sprinkled about liberally as they add pattern and texture to the room.

An easy way to refresh a chair is with a seasonal throw and accent pillow. It's early winter in this photo, so the nubby throw and velvet pillow are perfect. In the summer, change it out to a linen throw and a cotton pillow. Everything in this room is visually quiet.

Always give the eye a place to rest. There's a wall beyond that lamp with absolutely nothing on it--which is okay! A lot of glass was used in this room, adding sparkle.

The new custom drapery panels feature a modern gold and cream pattern and a European pleated header. They were installed on short curtain rods, flanking a large wall of french doors.
