Von Schlegell Ranch
This wonderful Ranch House sits in the middle of a pasture on the edge of Seven Mile Creek in the Fort Klamath area. Fort Klamath Mesa is north of Klamath County and sits south of Crater Lake. This three-building house is situated as close to the creek as planning laws allow.
Style: Contemporary Ranch House
Square Feet: 9,000
Beds/Bath: 4/4.5
Owners: John and Fran Von Schlegell
Architect: Anderson
Quality of Wood
The three buildings are all connected by decks, porches, and covered overhangs. The unique characteristics of this build start with the quality of wood. We used everything from Aspen Trees harvested on the property, to reclaimed wood from Boxcars, to hand waxed custom milled clear sugar pine. These are just a few examples of the materials used to enrich the Ranch House style the Von Schlegell’s desired.
Stone
There are two fireplaces, both were built with locally sourced stones. The fireplace in the living room anchors the room with its natural look. Outside of the kitchen, the second fireplace sits inside the screened porch. Large glass walls invite the beauty of the pasture inside. Custom cabinets and elegant furnishings complete the features to create a warm inviting ranch house feel.
Wildlife
During the summers, the pasture is full of cattle. But year-round there are many wonderful neighboring wildlife visitors. These include elk, herons, eagles, sparrows, cougars, coyotes, and large brown trout. With a large glass wall and a screened porch, the outdoors feel invited inside.
