W. Creekside Residence
The original house was a spec house built in the mid 1990s in a neighborhood of mostly one-story 1950s houses. The work involved primarily updating and reconfiguring interiors to suit the owners’ lifestyle. Dillon Kyle Architects redesigned the kitchen with simpler, cleaner lines, added a mudroom by converting three-car garage to two-car garage and moved the powder room.
The living room’s token fireplace made the room hard to furnish so it was removed. The new kitchen, an important space in the life of the family, is bright and open, its new proportions and clearly defined shape mimicking those of the rest of the renovated house. A curved ceiling demarcates this space relative to the living space, creating definition without separation.
