A remodel and addition that reworks a conventional two-story Austin house into a calmer, more open home. The original gabled massing is kept and clarified: pale stucco walls, a standing-seam metal roof, and deep overhangs that shade new floor-to-ceiling glazing toward the garden.

Inside, a sculptural plaster stair with oak treads becomes the pivot of the plan, linking the light-filled living room and kitchen with the bedrooms above. Walnut millwork, a curved plaster fireplace, and a restrained palette of oak, stone, and white plaster keep the interior quiet so the views and the light do the work.

Outside, a pool, wood-slat screens, and a planting scheme of native grasses turn the rear yard into an extension of the living spaces rather than an afterthought behind them.
