We took a once awkward, dated space with difficult ceiling lines and not enough storage and created a retreat that's both open and airy, yet intimate and serene. Embracing the existing architecture and skylights, the focal point of this transformation is the dramatic distressed barn wood beam utilized as a structural element that evokes a touch of masculinity and refined ruggedness. The clients wanted walnut hardwood floors in the bathroom to keep the continuity from the connecting spaces; we were able to do this with a curbless entry transitioning from the hardwood to the calcutta hexagon tile into the wet room with free standing soaking tub and jetted shower. His and hers vanities with custom cabinetry and lucite pulls were added, along with more closets.
The bedroom had wasted space and a platform that complicated the large area. We removed the platform and created a calming sitting area on one side and a soothing sleeping area on the other filled with soft crisp linens on the bed, oversized hide rug, and plenty of storage.
In keeping with the clients' needs, this multifaceted project maximized the use of space, created storage and added stunning sight lines and finishes which allowed this to become a dreamy space that will be used for many years to come.
