When the family that owned this Wilderness Gate property decided to modernize their Pueblo-style home, we worked closely with them to visualize and create a beautiful contemporary home. The owners were very involved in the process of selecting finishes, providing inspiration from their own experiences, travels and ideas and participating in an exciting design conversation––and that enthusiasm helped make this project so distinct.

This project ably combines a crisp, contemporary sensibility with a relaxed welcoming atmosphere that’s perfect for a family with three children. When we started the project, the challenge was to transform a very rustic and piecemeal house into something sophisticated, comfortable, light and truly inspirational. In order to achieve those goals, the client was willing to take some risks with us, and each of those risks really paid off.

On the whole, the home is a delightful family compound with a kid-friendly poolhouse and it’s situated extremely well on a lovely lot. Inside the compound and the home, there are several distinct and inspired spaces including a gorgeous, open chef’s kitchen and intimate, exquisite baths.
