A Living Cultural Paradise
This brand new development in Upper Saddle River provided many unique challenges since our clients wanted the feeling of a more established backyard while staying within the constraints of their overall budget. They also had strong personal and cultural desires to create a private sunken patio, incorporating the elements of water and fire. In addition, they leaned towards a more contemporary feel, which we achieved through geometric patterns and a very unique (according to Techo Bloc never done before!) configuration of different colored pavers.
The sunken fire pit and seat wall area are just steps away from the patio surrounding the swimming pool. The sunken patio, installed on a level site, created a unique drainage problem. Strip drains and basins collected the water and ran it underground.
We coordinated with the pool house contractor to make sure everything flowed seamlessly from one outdoor area to the next. Lighting and plantings were used to define and harmonize the different areas of the project. The
clients were ultimately thrilled with how the challenging project came together to exceed all of their expectations.
