Patio and Gardens - Wayne, NJ

**NJNLA Landscape Award of Superior Excellence.** The slope in the backyard leading from the rear of the house to the lakefront presented a nice opportunity for us. Originally, the client wanted two 4' high retaining walls, but as landscape architects we recommended a more cost-effective solution in the form of a boulder rockery. In addition to creating a cost-effective solution for dealing with the sloping backyard, we were also able to preserve the view of the lake. Bluestone slab steps and walkway lead from the rear of the house to the grass-covered backyard. In the front of the house, we installed a bluestone walkway leading from the street to the front door. A boulder seat rock, a Montgomery Blue Spruce, and other plants were added to the front landscape. Some plants of note used in the landscaping include creeping thyme, lamb's ear, Purple Candle astilbe, Shasta daisy, and 'Karley Rose' grass.
